The Shuttle Discovery

Here are some pictures and a video of the space shuttle Discovery taking off this evening.  It’s difficult to tell from the photos, but the middle part of the smoke trail actually appeared red from where the sun’s light was hitting it.  Very cool.  The shuttle is actually much brighter than what it looks like in the pictures as well, but these give you a good idea.

Also, I am posting this while listening to Vangelis – Heaven and Hell, aka the Cosmos theme.  How fitting.
